Zimbabwe is set to host the COP 15 Ramsar convention on wetlands at Elephant hills, Victoria falls running from 23 to 31 July 2025.
Zimbabwe currently has seven Ramsar Sites designated as Wetlands of International Importance (, with a surface area of 453,828 hectares.
Zimbabwe’s 7 Ramsar sites
Victoria Falls National Park: Located in Hwange, this park is home to many animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, giraffes, and zebras. It also has over 500 bird species, including falcons, eagles, black storks, and herons.
Monavale Vlei: Located in Harare, this grassland is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. The gray waterlogged clay soils support a rich biodiversity.
Driefontein Grasslands: Located in Gutu, Chikomba, and Chirumhanzu, these grasslands are home to globally threatened wattled cranes.
Mana Pools National Park: Designated on May 3, 2013, this park is 220,034 hectares in size.
Cleveland Dam: Designated on May 3, 2013, this site is 1,050 hectares in size.
Chinhoyi Caves Recreational Park: Located in Makonde, this site is 33 hectares in size.
Lake Chivero and Manyame: Designated on May 3, 2013, this site is 29,260 hectares in size.
