Climate Justice Fair Takes Off In Harare

Organisations working on Climate Change in the country, today came together to exhibit their work during a climate justice fair organised by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Zimbabwe in collaboration with Moto Republik creative hub.

The fair was organised in a bid to explore potential synergies, embolden collaborations and coordination in an informal setting, while escalating the case for Climate Justice in Zimbabwe.

The exhibition was followed up by a panel discussion under the theme ‘Climate change Reality for Zimbabwe : Perspectives on Adaptation, Resilience and financing’,

Speaking on the sidelines of the fair, FES Zimbabwe Programme Coordinator, Mr Hopewell Gumbo said the fair not only provided a platform for showcasing the work being done towards climate action but also a platform to interact and explore potential partnerships in dealing with the heavy crisis of climate change.

“We are in the cyclone El Nino era where a devastating drought has led many people into hunger in the country, this has been exacerbated by the changing climate.

Zimbabwe has to work vigorously in order to make sure it’s people do not become victims of the ravaging effects of climate change.”

Several organisations including Sisonke Climate Justice Project ; Action Aid Zimbabwe; Green Governance Trust; Magamba Network ; All For Climate Action ; ZIMCODD and Rima Afrika amongst others came together to showcase their efforts towards climate change awareness, mitigation and adaptation.
